Caregiving.com is sponsoring two days of learning, sharing and comforting on Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lincoln Park, 2710 N. Clark St., Chicago. The conference takes place during National Family Caregivers Month, which is November.

The conference will tackle the struggles common to the caregiving experience. In our most recent annual family caregiver survey, we asked you about the toughest struggles you experience. Almost 63% of respondents said that managing their emotions (guilt, anger, grief) is the hardest part of the caregiving experience. “Getting a good night’s sleep” and “finding the patience that’s needed” also top the list of tough challenges.
Our goals for our weekend together are to share, learn and grow. I’ll lead you through workshops on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A continental breakfast will be provided on Saturday and lunch will be served on Saturday and Sunday. Sunrise Assisted Living will donate the meeting space and the meals.
In the workshops, you’ll learn how to use your values to make effective caregiving decisions, tell your caregiving truth in order to form a caregiving team and brainstorm solutions to a problem that plagues.
The conference will end on Sunday afternoon with a discussion about how Monday will be different. Our purpose is to use Saturday and Sunday to gain coping strategies and find solutions so when you return home, your caregiving days will be different. Your days will be better.
